Steeple Aston Library

My clients asked me to create a library for their book collection in this East facing former dining room. The room lacks natural daylight with a chandelier as the only night time source of illumination. The walls were painted in a pale neutral with dark curtains and a small victorian open fire. We decided on a warm aqua blue as a foil for the books, oak floor boards plus the beautiful artwork over the fire. The old fireplace was replaced with a more efficient wood burning stove and the original tiles from the surround were added to the newly opened floor. A deep red to match the tiles was chosen for the interior of the fireplace which adds further warmth. Picture lights and some concealed fittings were introduced to the scheme to give further much needed illumination. 

Swerford Bathroom Renovation

This project was to transform a bathroom with a very large bath beneath the window into a shower room. As this room is built into the eaves and the shower could only fit in the highest part of the room, the vanity had to be located elsewhere. By bringing forward and deepening the windowsill beneath the dormer window, I was able to bring the vanity unit to a point where headroom was not an issue. This also allowed for hidden plumbing including the WC cistern which has given the whole 

North Oxfordshrie Farmhouse and Barn

This former farmhouse kitchen was remodelled into a spacious utility and boot room when my clients converted the barn adjoining their farmhouse into a new kitchen dining space. The room has a feature inglenook fireplace which was formerly the cooker space. This was redesigned and re-purposed into a cloakroom space including shoe cubicles, welly storage, coat and hat hanging plus an integrated bench. A tall and deep cupboard with dog bed below were built into a former but no longer required doorway. The lovely worn original flagstone floor plus the painting over the timber cabinet were the starting point for colours and we chose a soft olive green for some of the walls and cabinetry to work with these.
The new kitchen, dining and living space was added within the barn adjoining my clients' farmhouse. The former kitchen, though large was relatively dark with only one window and busy with cabinetry and open shelving. The resultant space shown here is much lighter and has allowed for a more contemporary look.

The Bothy

This tiny outbuilding which was formerly a farm store was converted into a tiny holiday let for 2-3 people by making the absolute maximum of every corner within the space.
We created a sleeping platform above the kitchenette with a small living dining space and shower room to the rest of the room.

The Lake District Bothy

Swiss Ski Chalet

This brief for this now beautiful chalet was to update and extend the kitchen and living space, incorporate a new ecologically driven heating system and add a wow factor to its existing cosy charm. One of the main criteria as far as the clients and I were concerned was to capitalise on the beautiful views from the front of the chalet that were largely hidden in the past. By adding a considerable amount of glass to this elevation in the form of windows stretching into the eves the resulting effect is stunning. I would like to thank my client for supplying me with some of the photos to which I have added some before shots plus images of my own taken on finally visiting the chalet post completion.

Northamptonshire Family Home

Cotswold Manor Cottage

This was a triple bathroom project, so three times the challenge and three times the excitment!! My client had chosen some beautiful Bert and May encaustic floor tiles she loved and had some oak shelves from her former house that she wanted to use and from these two fundamental elements the designs were created.

North Oxfordshire House

This project involved turning an existing utility room plus small WC into a utility room plus shower room. The other room in the project is a study come spare bedroom but the existing space did not allow for a double sofabed. To accommodate this requirement I adjusted the wall positions within the space to allow for a generous shower room, a compact but practical utility room as well as suitably enlarging the study. My clients' preference is for muted gentle tones steered the tile choices with richness and depth added in the form of panelling and the utility cabinetry. Natrural travertine floor tiles and solid oak surfaces give both rooms a sense of luxury as well as integrity.

Oxfordshire Cottage Bathrooms & Laundry

This project was a challenging but fulfilling one involving the redesign of two en-suites, one bathroom, plus incorporating a laundry into to a downstairs loo and cloakroom. Given this is an 18th century cottage, the bathrooms had to be installed retrospectively, as such, most of the spaces are small and quirky in shape. Making the most of these spaces was the priority, and the outcome was beautiful.

Grade II Listed North Oxfordshire Home

The clients in this four bedroom Grade II listed Georgian townhouse in a North Oxfordshire village have taken me on to work their house from top to bottom (though parts of the bottom were done prior to the top for reasons beyond our control!) Shown here is the top floor Shower Room which needed to be reconfigured to allow for comfortable living between height restricting beams to either side. The other rooms shown her are the top floor Study and ground floor Entrance Hall.

This is a long term project with elements having been added over a number of years. 

Grade II Listed Oxfordshire Home

These two bedrooms are part of an ongoing project in this North Oxfordshire home. One is the master bedroom formerly without any hanging storage, The second is the guest bedroom formerly used as a child's single bedroom with built in wardrobes providing the storage space required in the master bedroom. This room needed to be opened up in order to allow space for a double bed for overnight guests.
